Position Summary

The Administrative Coordinator is part of the admin team at Briya Public Charter School — a leading two-generation education program serving parents and their young children. Briya is a Tier One Public Charter School, consistently achieving the highest educational outcomes through its innovative, family-centric programming. Briya has a strategic partnership with Mary’s Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, further strengthening student families with comprehensive medical, dental, and social services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Administrative Coordinator position may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with students, families, visitors, staff members of Briya and Mary’s Center  

Fort Totten 2-Gen Student Data 

  • Maintains attendance records and student class information 
  • Coordinate the monthly attendance reports and attendance certificates.  
  • Follow up with students on a weekly basis regarding attendance 
  • Manages site enrollment, tracking and collecting students’ proof of address  
  • Responsible for planning and conducting home visits  
  • Ensures tracking and organization of reading journals for end of year audit. 
  • Responsible for proper distribution of daycare voucher letters
  • Responsible for placing orders to stock staff kitchen 

Student Support 

  • Responsible for answering and returning student calls 
  • Supports families of program by providing assistance and referrals when the Student Services Coordinator is not available  
  • Responsible for coordinating calling Fort Totten students and logistic support during inclement weather 
  • Responsible for managing distribution of winter coats donated by Mary’s Center 
  • Responsible for school application process (MySchoolDC), including all children in PK and Twos 
  • Distributing student IDs for all sites 
  • Responsible for all student field trip logistics for Fort Totten 

Site Operations 

  • Manages daily operations to assure optimal efficiency and high-quality care 
  • Ensures the proper function of equipment and supplies  
  • Ensures cost-conscious use of all resources 
  • Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient resolution of disputes 


  • Oversees the use of classroom space and the reservation of rooms for outside use 
  • Supports established Briya policies and procedures  
  • Responsible for placing food orders for site events ex. student council meetings, site birthdays, student services events, parent teacher conferences 
  • Coordinate the process of maintaining an orderly office environment  
  • Supervise the front desk staff 

Health and Safety 

  • Fort Totten incident commander, responsible for planning and conducting all drills and reporting to Operations Manager 
  • Adhere to and coordinate health and safety protocols at FT (such as covid protocols) 

Staff coordination 

  • Ensure effective cross-departmental site-based communication.  
  • Co-lead weekly coordinator meetings, work with coordinator team to create agenda 
  • Coordinates and plans office birthday celebrations 
  • Manage the site vacation schedules 
  • Build community amongst FT staff
